Thomas Transfer & Storage recently helped commercial jetliner manufacturer Airbus relocate its facilities from Wichita’s Old Town district to a new building at Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus.

Airbus moving 300 employees was the largest commercial move project in Wichita, KS for many years.  “Thomas Transfer was involved in many stages of planning and implementing this 5 phase project that was spread over 3 months in order to minimize the impact on the employees”, said Brian Crowe, General Manager at Thomas Transfer & Storage. “Thomas Transfer worked though many conditions, including a blizzard to insure that the move was a smooth transition for Airbus.”

Airbus had previously occupied 2 buildings on the 200 Block of N. Mead. The move to The Innovation Campus puts the company in an interconnected community where companies have nearby access to university laboratories and the ability to collaborate with WSU engineering and business schools. Airbus will likely also benefit from related organizations that also reside at the Innovation Campus, like the National Institute for Aviation Research and Dassault Systemes.

Goals of the Wichita State University Innovation Campus include attracting more companies that want to benefit from the university’s resources and provide employment opportunities for students and local residents. Thomas Transfer & Storage looks forward to helping additional companies relocate into this promising community.
